Undoubtedly Los Roques is one of the most beautiful natural areas of Venezuela. Birds abound: more than 92 species are available in the archipelago, 50 of which are migratory in North America.

The mangrove vegetation is red, white, black, buttonwood fish, purslane, and burdock saladillo boleo. While the park does not exist variety of terrestrial, but some are as exotic as the tree iguanas and lizards. The reefs are the main ecosystem with a great marine diversity which abounds in many varieties of fish and corals (the park owns 98% of coral species in the world), including sea fans, brain coral and fire coral. Also the lobster (which can only be caught from November to April) and botutos (currently closed) find an ideal habitat in Los Roques, main lobster production in the country. All these data confirm the enormous wealth that holds the waters of this archipelago, which Christopher Columbus described as "heaven on earth."

THE BEACHES OF THE ARCHIPELAGO

The archipelago of Los Roques is comprised of more than 300 sand banks and numerous reefs and coral reefs in clear turquoise waters. They have a management plan and regulations according to which applications are divided into seven zones: the recreation of managed natural environment, the primitive marine, comprehensive protection of historical, cultural, archaeological and paleontological heritage of services, and special use. Some of them are for tourism and related activities, other uses are restricted and to visit a special permit is required INPARQUES, this in order to protect the fauna and flora.

The beaches of Los Roques are places of dreams, where the waters warm and clear through multiple shades of blue, from almost white on the shore to the very dark in the deep sea change that is possible to see even from short distances (100 th 200 meters .) All the islands are barren, white sand generally devoid of vegetation due to both high temperatures, which average 28 ° C, as the low annual rainfall (the occasional rains occur during a short season matches September to January). Some cays have tourist facilities such as restaurants, health and schools of windsurfing and kiteboarding.
